In September, 2012, the group of Independent Education Union, Australia (IEU), have contributed the funds for 13 wells through Mrs. Maria HICKs as a fundraising coordinator of Clean Water & Education Project (CWEP). Thank you so much to the IEU group with your generosity in sopporting the CWEP to survive those Cambodian people in needs with the clean water wells construction. And thank you very much to Mrs. Maria Hicks that spend the valuable time on a humanitarian cuase to raise the funds to support the CWEP.
All the 13 wells are completely finished in the midst of November. Each well is installed on the own property of a family but they share the water with the families around by naming it as a public water or water for community that everyone can drink it not only the beneficiary and the families around the well. The well is the initiative of their living condition. They can plan some lesser crops nearby the well by getting the water from the well to feed their crops. The families can use the water for drinking, bathing, laundry with healthily and the children have right to access the clean water.
As many as people in the rural area before they access to clean water from these wells, they had a pit well which dug in the depth of 1.5m to 2m for a solution of a lacking of water during dry season. But the water in this depth is not clean enough for drinking as their must be many bacterias stay in the pit well of this depth and the people might get sick the stomach. Sadly, the pit well always does not stay lasted long especially during the rainy season. The flooding is coming and reach to under their houses and it must be covers the pit wells. Another solution is drinking the water from flooding because their pit wells are not survive from the flooding anymore. This would causes the problem to those people again with stomach sick. They have a swim, cleaning, washing, laundry, cooking, drinking by using the flooding water. This is their habit on drinking the water from the pit wells and the flooding in all seasons.
Because of the problems we saw annually, the CWEP working on encourage them to drink the clean water from the drill well at least 20 meters deep to reach the enough clean water. Now most of them in the remote villages have got the survived from IEU. They are now have clean water to driking and cooking and waterever they can get profit from the water. Hopefully they would have a healthy drink with the water from the well drilled. Thank you so much to IEU group with your generous support the CWEP to find a solution of providing the clean water for the poeple in needs.
On the behalf of the CWEP, the teams of fundraisers of CWEP and the Cambodian people, we all are most appreciate to your generosity in supporting the CWEP. With your helps, GOD may bring you with the best wish and blessing you all the time!
